TEMPORARY SWITCH TO DIESEL
🔥 Service Update – Temporary Switch to Diesel 🚂
Following the heightened fire risk and national alert issued yesterday, we’ve taken the decision to temporarily pause the use of our steam locomotives.
With the surrounding countryside exceptionally dry, we simply don’t want to take any unnecessary risks. We’ll therefore remain diesel-hauled until we’ve had some meaningful rainfall – which, thankfully, is hopefully on the way later next week.
🚂 Today: our Baguley diesel will be in charge
🚂 Tomorrow: our TU7 diesel will take over
We know steam is a big part of the Brecon Mountain Railway experience, and we’re sorry for any disappointment. However, we’re sure most visitors will understand why we need to take this precaution.
And remember – it’s still the same spectacular scenery, the same journey and the same friendly BMR team… just a little less steam for now!
As soon as we’ve had enough rain to reduce the fire risk, the steam locos will be back. 🌧️🚂
Thank you for your understanding.
