🦅 Birds of Prey Weekends at the Railway

9–10 May | 20–21 June | 12–13 September 2026

We’re delighted to

be welcoming the team from Wings of Wales to the railway for three special weekends during 2026.

Based at Pant Station throughout the events, Lewis and his team will be bringing along an incredible collection of birds of prey, including majestic Harris Hawks and the truly spectacular White-Tailed Eagle — one of the largest birds of prey in the world.

Visitors will be able to enjoy:

  • Up-close meet-and-greet sessions with the birds
  • Fascinating talks about birds of prey, conservation and reintroduction projects
  • Flying demonstrations throughout the day (weather permitting)
  • A family-friendly “spot the bird” activity along the railway

The combination of heritage steam trains, mountain scenery and soaring birds of prey makes for a fantastic family day out and a brilliant opportunity to learn more about these magnificent animals.

Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, photographer, or simply looking for something a little different to enjoy during your visit, these weekends promise to be a real highlight of the season.

Flying displays will take place at intervals during the day and are included as part of your railway visit.

FULL RETURN JOURNEY From ÂŁ26.50

Experience the Magic of Brecon Mountain Railway

Embark on a nostalgic journey aboard our vintage steam locomotives, offering breathtaking views of the Bannau Brycheiniog. Travel along the historic route of the original Brecon & Merthyr Railway, which first opened in the 19th century and closed in 1964.

Our line runs from Pant, 3 miles north of Merthyr Tydfil, to Torpantau, taking you through some of the most stunning scenery Wales has to offer.  Pass through lush woodland, past sparkling reservoirs to Torpantau which sits at 400m above sea level.  Marvel at the mountains and view down the valley.
