Autumn Half Term Adventures at Brecon Mountain Railway

October 26th – November 3rd, 2024

As the vibrant colours of autumn sweep across the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), there’s no better way to soak up the season’s charm than aboard a steam train journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway. For a truly magical half-term adventure with the whole family, climb aboard and experience the stunning Welsh landscape in all its autumnal glory!

Wrap Up Warm for a Cosy Journey

Our restored Baldwin locomotives may transport you back in time, but with no heating in the coaches, you’ll want to wrap up warm! Grab your favourite cosy scarf, gloves, and hat, and snuggle in as we whisk you along our scenic route from Pant to Pontsticill and back. The crisp autumn air outside only enhances the charm as you witness the golden leaves drifting from trees and the sun casting a gentle glow over the reservoirs and mountain slopes.

Don’t forget your camera! The journey offers picture-perfect views at every turn, from misty hillsides to the deep, reflective waters of the Pontsticill Reservoir.

Autumn Timetable and Extra Trains for Half Term

To make the most of the half-term holiday, we’re running trains on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesday to Thursday during the week. Our trains depart from Pant Station at 11:00am and 1:00pm, with an extra 3:00pm service on the 26th and 27th of October, perfect for squeezing in one more adventure before heading home.

Enjoy a Warm Drink and Snack

After a refreshing ride through the autumnal landscape, treat yourself to a warm drink and snack in our tearooms at Pant Station. Nothing beats a hot chocolate or freshly brewed coffee after a cool journey through the crisp mountain air. While our tearoom at Pontsticill will be closed from 29th October, you can still enjoy the full range of refreshments at Pant when you return from your steam-powered adventure.

Top Tip: Try our homemade cakes and traditional Welsh bara brith for a delicious treat that adds a touch of local flavour to your day!

Make Your Autumn Half Term Special

Whether you’re looking for a family outing, a relaxing escape into nature, or just a chance to experience the beauty of Bannau Brycheiniog in autumn, a journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway is the perfect choice.
